Introductory Lesson 3: Trees

Trees

Trees give us cool shade on hot days. We get wood from the trunks and branches of trees.
People use wood to build houses, furniture, tools, etc.
Wood is also used to make paper.
We get food from trees. Apples, jamuns, and mangoes all grow on trees.
We get medicines from the fruits, leaves, flowers, and barks of trees.
Trees are homes for birds, bats, squirrels, and monkeys. Some birds do not build nests in
trees, but use the branches to sleep on.
All trees have roots. The roots soak up water from the ground. The trunk of the tree carries
water to the leaves.
Leaves need sunlight and water to make food for the tree.
Trees also help in fighting soil, air, and water pollution.
To save the planet, we need to plant more trees and prevent them from being cut.
