Vocabulary Review: Verbs in Present and Past Tense

Below is a list of verbs related to sports. Verbs are action words.

Walk, run, jump, skip, swim, race, jog, ski, throw, march, kick, dribble, toss, sprint, and catch.

Most of these verbs are regular verbs. Pay attention to how they form the past tense.

Example:
I walk in the park every day.
I walked in the rain yesterday.

The irregular verbs here are: run, swim, throw, and catch.

I run in the park every morning.
The child hurt himself and ran home to his mother.

Run- ran, swim- swam, throw- threw, catch – caught.

A) In the following exercise choose the correct verb from the list above. There can be more than one correct verb.
B) Fill in the verb in the present and in the past tense.

Example:
Abhishek catches the ball.
Abhishek caught the ball.

  12. Eight horses ____ for the cup.
  13. Aadil ____ in Nehru Park to keep fit.
  14. In winter he ____ on the mountain slopes.

C) Please use all the above verbs in sentences of your own. Your sentence should show that you understand the meaning of the verb.
