“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded money, it would be a merrier world.”
JRR Tolkie
Have you heard the saying— “Food is the best medicine?”
Many of us rush to take medicines when we fall ill. Is it possible to do something when you are well which will help you not fall ill? You can! You must eat the right kind of food. Medicines make you well when you are ill. Correct eating can prevent illness. That is why good food is often the best medicine.
Good food includes fresh, green vegetables. When vegetables are overcooked, they lose much of their food value. Remember to wash vegetables very well. If you are eating raw vegetables, soak them for a while in clean water and scrub and wash them thoroughly.
Fruit has many nutrients. Nutrients are the vitamins and minerals needed for you to grow and be healthy. Even tiny fruit like gooseberries and dates are full of nutrients.
Remember to drink lots of water, too!
Chocolates, sweets and ice-cream can be enjoyed, but not too often. And don’t forget to brush your teeth after eating these sugary treats.
I’m sure everyone you know loves chips and similar snacks. Since they are fried they can make you overweight and unhealthy. So eat chips and samosas and pakodas in moderation.
